VENEERS

Veneers are porcelain or ceramic restorations that fit over the front of the tooth. They may be used to close spaces between teeth, restore broken parts of a front tooth, or change the appearance of the enamel on front teeth. There is a lot of planning and behind-the-scenes work to make our veneers look as natural and beautiful as possible, but the results are completely worth it!

BONDING

Bonding is a general term meaning the addition of a composite or resin material to the front teeth to either build back missing tooth structure or to change the appearance of the teeth. It may also be used to close spaces between the front teeth. Our bonding materials have been developed over time to more naturally mimic tooth structure. Bonding is normally more conservative as far as removal of enamel and also more cost-effective, making it a popular choice to improve the appearance of the front teeth.

BLEACHING

Teeth whitening involves using either carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide to lighten the appearance of teeth. The whitening gel may be pre-loaded in a strip or loaded by patients into custom made bleaching trays. The up-front cost to bleach with custom trays can be more expensive than over-the-counter whitening strips, however, the cost balances out over time as a patient wants to “touch up” their whitening. Bleaching may be used as a stand-alone treatment or in conjunction with other dental treatments like crowns, bridges, fillings, or partials to achieve ideal esthetics.

GINGIVAL SCULPTING

One of the more common aesthetic concerns voiced by patients is a “gummy” smile, especially after braces are removed. We are able to contour the gum line around teeth to help create a more symmetrical and more pleasing appearance. Sometimes the appearance of a “short tooth” is not because the tooth itself is short but because the gum tissue is too thick and covers too much of the tooth surface. This problem is easily addressed through gingival sculpting.

ENAMEL MICRO-ABRASION

Enamel micro-abrasion is a fancy name for a conservative procedure to help make the enamel of teeth look more smooth and consistent in color. Spotted teeth can result from inappropriate amounts of fluoride consumption as a child, genetics, events during tooth development, or demineralization of the enamel especially during the time a teenager is wearing braces. This procedure treats the abnormal enamel to make a more even appearance.
